Central Oregon runs from the north starting at the Columbia River and runs south to the California border and is known primarily as an outdoor recreation center. It encompasses the Cascade Mountains, National Forests, many high lakes, is famous for rivers, known for it's high desert, caves, lava beds, and it's great big sky. With all of that landscape, it provides opportunities for the skier, mountain climber, bicyclist, hiker, spelunker, artist, photographer, horseback rider, naturalist, bird watcher and much much more. It's truly Oregon's playground!
The communities are small, and growing quickly, but still they maintain their quaint and friendly atmosphere. In Deschutes County you will find Bend, (the largest city in Central Oregon), LaPine, Brothers, Sunriver, Sisters, Redmond, and Terrebonne. Crook County is just east of Deschutes County, and you will find Powell Butte, Prineville (largest city in Crook County), and many other small towns. To the north you will find Jefferson County with Culver, Madras (largest city in Jefferson County), Warm Springs, and Metolius. North of Jefferson County is Wasco County, where The Dalles (largest city and county seat), Antelope, Dufer, Maupin, and Mosier. Just East of Wasco County is Sherman County, with Moro as county seat, and it's many small farming communities throughout. South of Deschutes County you will then find Klamath County with Klamath Falls (it's major city), Bonanza, Chiloquin, Malin, and Merril. Then just east of Klamath County you will find Lake County, with Lakeview (it's largest city) and Pasley.
